After a few hours spent with my good friend apache, I am now running on Wordpress 2.5. Looks like it won’t change much for you guys. Administration received a little overhaul though, I’ll see if it actually is more pleasant to use. First bad surprise though, choosing a category for a post is now done below the post itself. In the previous version, it was on the right sidebar which was better in my opinion. I’ll keep you updated if anything revolutionary is hidden somewhere
. On the positive side though, no problem with my theme and plugins.
As the title is also saying, the “official” URL for this blog has now become http://blog.thatsdelectable.net . You can still use the old http://www.thatsdelectable.net/blog though, you will be redirected to the correct page.
If you see something not working with the new version of Wordpress, please leave a comment on this post and I’ll have a look at it.

A few news about the site, as it may appear I’m not doing much about it right now, which, truth be told, is not exactly false… Anyway, on to more invigorating news, this month I’ll be working on having multiple languages supported on this site. My parents will at last discover how funny and smart I am, or at least be able to understand what I write. From what I’ve seen however it’s not exactly as straightforward as your usual Wordpress plugin’s installation. Talking of Wordpress, I’ll also be updating my old, rotten 2.3 version for the shiny 2.5 branch. We’ll see exactly what gets better with this version, and whether my theme and plugins will still be working after the upgrade…
A few remotely-interesting-to-some-people articles coming up as well. A nice little piece of software which will help you watch Hulu all over the world for free (I have to be quick though, it would seem that Haithem is also planning such an article
), and you could also learn how to plug your Wii to your PC, an endeavor which proved much more tedious than I initially thought…
‘Till then folks!

In the end of December, the 28th to be accurate, I arrived in Atlanta, and had about one week of free time to go around the city and have some fun. On the 7th of January, courses at Georgia Tech started. And then I don’t know what happened for the next 10-or-so weeks (actually I do know, but talking about my assignments is not exactly going to be of utter interest to you is it?), but in a breeze we were the 3rd of May, graduation day! Yup, I am now a full-fledged Georgia Tech graduate, a nice addition to my unkown-to-the-world University of Technology of Compiègne master’s degree, although my GPA is a tad weaker than I would have hoped for (”A B too far”, you could say…). Bad news is, I took a plane back to France on the 4th, so it’s over for my US adventures… for the time being! I am now busy looking for a job, and especially for those French “VIE”, which could hopefully offer me the chance to get a job in Asia. Other than that, I’m also keeping my eyes peeled for any good opportunity in France or in the US or UK. Wish me luck, or better yet, find someone willing to hire me
For those of you craving for more of my exquisite shots, fear not, as I’ll be putting my new DSLR camera (little graduation self-gratification…) through heavy testing from the 30th of May to the 13th of June, as I’ll be going with some friends in Korea and Thailand (as well as other neighboring countries depending on time constraints).

I was taking a break from a project a few minutes ago, considering whether I would have the front developed in Adobe Flex. I then wondered if Adobe had any trial version available for Flex 3. And they actually have a nice 60-day evaluation version. More interesting however, if you’re related in any way to education, that is if you’re a student, faculty, or even an employee of a school / college / university / etc., you can have your Flex 3 license for free. You’ll just need to fill out a short form and upload a proof of enrollment / employment. I just did that right now, I’ll keep you updated about how the process goes. Check out the link below if you want to seize the opportunity as well!

[Update] Well, that was not too slow… It took less than 3 hours to receive my activation key.

Last weekend, I was in New York so that I could spend some time as a dumb tourist, visiting the Statue of Liberty, taking pictures, you know, that kind of stuff. Here are a few things I have to say about my experience there. It was far too short to really get to go everywhere I wanted to, but I’m pretty happy with what I saw considering the time constraint. Of course, I’ll definitely have to go back there to see what I missed. Anyway, a few lines of texts and a massive amount of pictures after the break.

You might have noticed that I’m not really updating this blog as often as I should. If you are among the 4 persons that actually read it that is. The thing is, I’m currently looking for a job in the US, which is pretty time consuming on its own. I also heard something about projects having to be handed out for the end of the semester at Georgia Tech, which is pretty time consuming on its own… Lastly, I am also very puzzled about what I’m going to do if the US don’t grace me with a H-1B work visa. You know, the great dilemmas in life: black or brown socks, McDonald’s or Burger King, diet coke or coke zero, working in France or going back to Japan…
I really hope I’ll be able to get a job here in the US, this would save me the trouble of thinking it through, but until then I guess I’ll be having something to think about in my free time.

I recently bought a game from “Stardock”, an independent game producer, or “indie” as people in the know would call it. Sarcastically, it means that they are not owned by Electronic Arts, and more objectively, as is the case for the music industry, it just means that they are not depending on the main producers, such as the afore mentioned giant.
Anyway, I wanted to point you to an interesting post on their forum regarding piracy. This is mainly business oriented, so not so much discussion about art here, and it basically explains how Stardock managed to sell several hundreds of thousands of copies of “Galactic Civilization 2″ or “Sins of a Solar Empire”, although those games were retailed without any copy protection.
Let’s read this post!

I just realized I never posted the photos I have taken at “Stone Mountain”, a very nice place near Atlanta, where you can hike on the top of a rather huge rock. Oh, and I’m saying “hike” just because it sounds much cooler than walk, but it actually doesn’t require much effort to get to the top… Click below to see the whole album!

The thing below, my friends, is a little package filled with bliss. You must have already tasted this. If you didn’t, and are on a diet, I would suggest not trying. In all other cases, the title alone should have reminded you to go out and buy some now. So, why the whiny title then?

Well, my European friends, you know that feeling you get when going at a store and drooling in front of this thing, while carefully considering whether you should part with 5.50€ to get the “Häagen-Dazs rush”? The time wasted pondering (you know that you will eventually jeopardize your grocery budget anyway) is greatly reducedin the US: the same package here costs $3.30. Now, if I want to be a bit more cruel, I could also point out that at today’s exchange rate ($1.50 for 1€, which is pretty sick by the way…), the whole thing actually costs 2.2€… Oh, I forgot to consider the sales tax, so you must add around $0.1 I guess. I would be pretty curious to know where this discrepancy comes from though. Raw materials’ cost? Outrageous retailer margin? This is up for debate!

In the hope of drawing some French-speaking audience to my wonderful blog (yeah I know, that’s pretty subjective…), here is another posting series! This one will be about expressions and idioms which I stumble upon in English texts, or some that I need when writing documents or mails. The guidelines here of course stem from my own understanding, and if I am wrong at some point don’t hesitate to notify me! I will however only post things about which I am reasonably confident.
